Hi anouc, first we must say it’s a big pleasure for us here at Actu-Lan to make your i-view and for that we thank you first
Can you introduce yourself ( past, present and futur ^^ ) and your Badgirls line-up please ?
I hate this question hehe I never know how to introduce myself anymore. It’s impossible to explain who you are in a couple of lines and make people get to know me better with it. Well I’m aNouC and I’m from a city close to Barcelona. I’ve been part of the gaming world for a while now and I’ve been doing my best to improve and innovate the female scene. Nowadays I’m playing Counter-Strike under the tag badGirls together with my mates : Lena, iRene and Bady with whom I’ve been playing in previous teams and with our newest addition sNDr who joined to complete the roster since our friend xiO is inactive due to her job.
After a long long time you have decided to be back with the « famous » Badgirls. Why ?
Well none of us got inactive so we never stopped playing. I guess by long long time you mean playing under the tag badGirls, right ? I created badGirls 10 years ago when the female scene was not even a dream. Some of my actual team mates been on the spanish squad in the past. There we all got to know each other. Now we wanted to comeback and we didn’t know which name to use and suddenly we agreed that it was a good idea to do it under this tag while celebrating the 10th anniversary at the same time J
I think with this line-up you can reach some achievements. Have you some « plans » ? ( Eswc, Mondial du gaming, WCG etc… )
Everytime we set a team it’s mean to have some objectives, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense for such a bunch of competitive persons !! hehe... but well, the prime thing now is to get back some teamplay and build up again some basic tactics and so on. At the moment we just have the individual skills but that’s not enough to achieve most of our goals. Of course the ESWC is always an important thing to aim for. Some of us been at all the ESWC events, so it’s part of our routine plus it’s the only important female tournament out there !
Let’s talk about the e-sport scene now. What can you say from the beginning from Anouc in electronic sports ? And what do you think from the « scene » right now ?
Ufff « anouc the beginning » sounds like a super hollywood production haha. Well I started around 10 years ago when I got to know Quake and I decided to play it. Bye then the known as scene was very different. The connexions didn’t make possible a scene like it is today, every country had it’s own scene. And of course the female scene wasn’t really existing. It somehow started by then. I remember I met a couple of girls playing Quake too and that’s how I decided to do something about it and created badGirls. The spirit of that team and the way it started to grow, went together with the scene, getting bigger and bigger.
Usually when ppl speack about girls in e-sports, i think the first name is ANOUC . Can you said why ? ( maybe your experience or …. )
I think it has to do with the long time I’ve been active on the scene and of course different things I’ve done to push it which I think somehow made a difference. I gave a lot to that world and I’ve had passion for years by comming up with ideas, projects and my own teams being there. I think all that combined made my name more or less known for some people.
Some ppl are joking with the skills from female players. What do you think about that ?
They are free to joke as much as they want. What it’s true is that the female players have been doing a great job all these years and that’s a fact. They started from the bottom and made it to the top with hard work and taking things serious. As much as they believe on themselves the better it goes. And of course there are female gamers that have a very high individual skill, which has nothing to envy compared to the male ones. Thing is that the players got somehow stuck on the female scene because it’s a different feeling. Like my friend Louise said last week on an interview, it’s like a sisterhood and that’s really great. What doesn’t really work at all seems to be the combination of five talented girls. The level is not getting high enough to compete with the top male teams.
And what do you think about girls playing all this games ( Cs, Quake, DoD, CSS ) ? Sould more grils join the gaming world ?
I obviously invite them all to give it a try. From my own experience I think it’s a great thing and I recommend it to everyone. If somebody likes to play alone I think Quake is very addictive and a lot of fun and if you like to teamplay, go for CS !! J
You have for sure a lot of good memoriess in e-sport but can you tell me the best and the bad of all this ?
Of course I have a lot of them. For example, back to 2005 when we just fixed a fully spanish team one week before the ESWC, we went to the event not very well prepared but full of illusions because it was the first time a spanish team could represent the country. We were low-seeded and we had a difficult group but we passed it. We were very happy that day but when we’ve seen the second group stage we were not that happy anymore. It was us together with the americans GX3 (actual SK Ladies and actual world champion), All 4 One (defending champion that year) and seules (a very strong scandinavian team). We thought we would lose really bad because we had to face them on their best maps (inferno, train and nuke). We passed that group and we lost on SemiFinals very close to the top brazilian team LadieS.AMD and we played the french girls from btb on the third place game, which we won and that’s one of my best memories because it was a great game and a great feeling once the event was over.
Bad memories ? well... I think on 2006 and 2007 we didn’t have much luck and we got out right before of the SemiFinals due to a tied games (same both years !) that’s really not fun !!
But all in all, I have much more good memories because I had lots of fun with my team mates everywhere, travelling, living together and of course playing.
Have gaming affected your relations with family or friends ? And why ?
Not really. Of course you never know how would have been your life if you didn’t do one or another thing. But life is about taking decisions and following a different path every now and then and that’s the one I’ve chosen and my family and friends respected what I decided to do.
What is a « normal » day in Anouc life ? I mean without gaming….
There’s no normal day without gaming actually haha. During the week I go to work at mornings to the ING Nationale Nederlanden offices and at middays and afternoons I go to the schools where I teach. A couple of afternoons I also teach on a german academy and that’s it. When I got home I can chill, talk to friends and play mixes or practice with my girls. On the weekends I try to disconnect from job and do different things, meet friends, go to the cinema as much as I can and go out from time to time. But sometimes we use the weekends to do some intensive cs training so... gaming is always around.
So let us play now a quick dating when ok :
Cola or Pepsi ? Coke Light first of all !
Black or White ? There’s nothing black or white, world is full of greys.
Cs or Quake ? Both depending on the day.
Sk or Fnatic ? I’ve been involved on both projects so I can’t choose.
Eml or aAa ? I don’t really know a reason to choose, but I’ve got a friend in aAa !
Sun or Snow ? Both are needed too.
Actulan or CsFusion ? ( 2 french website ^^ ) I think there’s no emotion without competition.
Ok Anouc it’s time to said goodbye… Thanks for the time, we wish you the best with Badgirls. Any comments ?
Well thanks for your interest and my greetings goes for my mates because without them it wouldn’t be possible !
Here is the end of this interview, if you have any comment to add, that's on the forum.
